Hi,
My name is Richard Stanley and I am a detective constable working out of Wednesfield Police Station. I have been with West Midlands Police since January 2010 and started work on a neighbourhood team in Bloxwich before joining a response shift in September 2010, moving to an investigation team in January 2013, then to a CID burglary team in April 2014 before moving to Force CID’s Violent Crime Team in June 2014 where I currently work.
I work alongside other detectives and constables covering both the Walsall and Wolverhampton policing areas investigating all violence-related offences from common assaults up to kidnaps, poisonings and attempted murders.

I am interested in the use of social media by the police and am one of the many officers in West Midlands Police embracing the medium to help build better bonds with the public. I have maintained a regularly updated Twitter feed since October 2010 (@dcstanleywmp) and this blog since the following March.
I enjoy interacting with the public across both mediums and am always keen to respond to feedback and answer any questions you may have. If I am not able to answer them personally, I will endeavour to put you in touch with someone better suited than myself to help.
This blog is updated in my own time and I am always keen to consider suggestions for new blog topics. The principle aim of the blog is to try and help explain matters of criminal law and police procedure to those not versed in policing. I use this blog to offer advice and to try explain developing news stories from a policing prospective.

Our website, www.west-midlands.police.uk, contains a wealth of information about policing in your area including crime prevention advice. You can phone us directly on 101 for non-urgent matters, although 999 can always be used in an emergency.
In addition, you can use the www.police.uk website to find contact details for your local beat team and can speak to Crimestoppers, either by calling 0800 555 111 or visiting their website, to provide information about crime anonymously.
